                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to pay
 1-2     tribute to a most distinguished senior citizen, John Holtermann,
 1-3     for his myriad contributions to this state; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, A charter member of the Texas Silver-Haired
 1-5     Legislature, he has chaired its Legislative Action Committee for
 1-6     the past decade, during which period he has ably represented his
 1-7     fellow senior citizens and been an important contributor to the
 1-8     work of that distinguished body in addressing concerns of
 1-9     particular import to the elderly population of Texas; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Born on August 2, 1911, Mr. Holtermann has
1-11     consistently made volunteerism  a priority in his life, from his
1-12     early involvement in scouting to his more recent participation on
1-13     the board of the San Marcos Public Library, the Hays and Caldwell
1-14     County Welfare Board, and the EMS, Paramedic, Trauma Advisory
1-15     Board; and
1-16           WHEREAS, Retired from a notable career with Litton Office
1-17     Products, he has also greatly benefited the Central Texas Area
1-18     Agency on Aging, which he served as a regional ombudsman volunteer,
1-19     and the Texas Department of Health's Emergency Health Care Advisory
1-20     Committee; and
1-21           WHEREAS, For his exceptional efforts in behalf of the elderly
1-22     individuals of our state, he was honored by the Silver-Haired
1-23     Legislature in 1998 with John Holtermann Day at the State Capitol;
1-24     in addition, his many accolades include the Citizen of the Year
 2-1     Award from the San Marcos Board of Realtors, the Denman Evangelism
 2-2     Award from the United Methodist Church, the Award for Excellence in
 2-3     Community Service from the Daughters of the American Revolution,
 2-4     and the Better Life Award of Humanitarianism from the Texas Health
 2-5     Care  Association; and
 2-6           WHEREAS, John Holtermann has proven that one man can make a
 2-7     difference through his tireless dedication to his fellow Texans,
 2-8     and he is indeed deserving of legislative recognition; now,
 2-9     therefore, be it
2-10           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-11     Legislature hereby commend John Holtermann for his deep commitment
2-12     to the senior citizens of Texas and extend to him warmest best
2-13     wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
2-14           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-15     prepared for Mr. Holtermann as an expression of high regard by the
2-16     Texas House of Representatives.
