                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, On February 23, 2001, the Yellowhouse Masonic Lodge
 1-2     in Lubbock will celebrate its 100th anniversary, and this notable
 1-3     occasion truly warrants legislative recognition; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Establishing the Yellowhouse Masonic Lodge on
 1-5     December 6, 1900, the founding members of the lodge helped
 1-6     transform Lubbock from a small West Texas town into the modern city
 1-7     that exists today; one of four Masonic lodges in Lubbock, it has
 1-8     long supported numerous charitable causes, such as children's
 1-9     health and education; over the course of the century, its members
1-10     have made impressive contributions to our state; and
1-11           WHEREAS, Masons have a long tradition in Texas; the first
1-12     three Masonic lodges were chartered by 1837,  and on April 16,
1-13     1838, the Grand Lodge of the Republic of Texas held its first
1-14     meeting in Houston; today freemasonry includes 132,000 members in
1-15     900 lodges  across the state; and
1-16           WHEREAS, As the Yellowhouse Masonic Lodge celebrates its
1-17     milestone anniversary, it is indeed appropriate to join with the
1-18     Masons in recognizing its history and contributions; now,
1-19     therefore, be it
1-20           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-21     Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the Yellowhouse
1-22     Masonic Lodge on its 100th anniversary and extend to them sincere
1-23     best wishes for continued success in all their endeavors; and, be
1-24     it further
 2-1           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-2     prepared for the Yellowhouse Masonic Lodge as an expression of high
 2-3     regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
