R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Since 1997, The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) 1-2 has sponsored a Creative Problem Solving Team, and the members of 1-3 this unique organization are most deserving of special recognition; 1-4 and 1-5 WHEREAS, Participating in regional, state, and world 1-6 competitions, the exceptional students of this group have 1-7 continually proven themselves to be innovative and original in 1-8 their problem-solving approaches, actively seeking to expand beyond 1-9 commonly accepted solutions; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Recent years have brought much success to the 1-11 members of the Creative Problem Solving Team; in 1999 two of the 1-12 university's teams placed first at the Odyssey of the Mind World 1-13 Competition in Tennessee, and in 2000 UTD representatives claimed 1-14 both first and third place at the Destination Imagination inaugural 1-15 competition, in addition to earning the coveted Renaissance Award, 1-16 which rewards extraordinary effort and creativity; and 1-17 WHEREAS, While preparing for the 2001 competitive season, the 1-18 members of this year's team have given generously of their time and 1-19 talent to the next generation of problem solvers, judging regional 1-20 contests and holding workshops for area competitors; and 1-21 WHEREAS, In the coming months, these noteworthy students will 1-22 compete in the 2001 Global Finals at the University of Tennessee; 1-23 the group is also busy planning its newest endeavor, the area-wide 1-24 Instant Challenge Workshop, which will help younger teams prepare 2-1 for upcoming competitions and is scheduled for January 2002; and 2-2 WHEREAS, The members of UTD's Creative Problem Solving Team 2-3 have distinguished themselves as talented and ingenious 2-4 individuals, and it is a privilege to honor them at this time; now, 2-5 therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-7 Legislature hereby commend the members of the Creative Problem 2-8 Solving Team at The University of Texas at Dallas and extend to 2-9 them sincere best wishes for an excellent 2001 season; and, be it 2-10 further 2-11 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-12 prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-13 House of Representatives.
