                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The passing of Moises Calderon of Del Rio on October
 1-2     23, 2000, at the age of 60, brought a great loss to the family and
 1-3     many friends of this esteemed gentleman; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, A native of Del Rio, Mr. Calderon was born to Leonor
 1-5     and Guillermo Calderon, Jr., on June 26, 1940; a highly regarded
 1-6     member of his community, he enjoyed a longtime residency in his
 1-7     native town; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, The owner of Memo's Restaurant in Del Rio for more
 1-9     than three decades, Mr. Calderon was a successful businessman and
1-10     renowned musician, playing the piano, xylophone, vibraphone, and
1-11     congas; this gifted artist was selected to compose the music for
1-12     Val Verde County's centennial celebration, was a conductor for the
1-13     Ray Price Band, and recorded an album titled Sentimientos; in
1-14     addition, he earned national acclaim during appearances on numerous
1-15     television shows, including "Hee-Haw," the "Jerry Lewis Telethon,"
1-16     "Merv Griffin," and the "Tonight Show"; and
1-17           WHEREAS, This noteworthy Texan was the beloved husband of
1-18     Dolly Calderon, with whom he shared a happy and rewarding marriage;
1-19     as a dedicated father, he watched his family grow to include five
1-20     cherished children, Jana, Jacque, Moisann, Patricia, and Moises;
1-21     and
1-22           WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Blondie," Moises Calderon
1-23     was a man of integrity and compassion, and although he will be
1-24     greatly missed by all who knew him, his spirit will live on in the
 2-1     hearts and minds of the many people whose lives he touched; now,
 2-2     therefore, be it
 2-3           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-4     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Moises Calderon and
 2-5     extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:  to his wife,
 2-6     Dolly; to his daughters and their husbands, Jana and Miguel
 2-7     Gutierrez, Jacque and Rick Keith, Moisann Calderon, and Patricia
 2-8     Ray Calderon; to his son, Moises "Cinco" Calderon, Jr.; to his
 2-9     mother, Leonor "None" Calderon; his brothers, Pat and Ferdy
2-10     Calderon; to his sisters, Baby Merkle and Bochy Gray; to his
2-11     grandsons, James Frederick Holt, Jonathan Wayne, and William
2-12     Draeger Keith; and to his many other relatives and friends; and, be
2-13     it further
2-14           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-15     prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
2-16     Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Moises
2-17     Calderon.
