R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Mike Betancourt on December 1-2 26, 2000, at the age of 39, has brought a great loss to the family 1-3 and many friends of this esteemed gentleman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mr. Betancourt was born in Alpine to 1-5 Gregorio and Audelia Betancourt on September 30, 1961; employed by 1-6 the Alpine Independent School District, he enjoyed a longtime 1-7 residency in West Texas and was a valued member of his community; 1-8 and 1-9 WHEREAS, This noteworthy Texan was the beloved husband of 1-10 Alma Betancourt, with whom he shared a happy and rewarding 1-11 marriage; he was the dedicated father of Andrea and Audrey, his two 1-12 cherished daughters; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Mike Betancourt was a man of integrity and 1-14 compassion, and although he will be greatly missed by all who knew 1-15 him, his spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of the many 1-16 people whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it 1-17 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-18 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Mike Betancourt and 1-19 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, 1-20 Alma; to his daughters, Andrea and Audrey; to his parents, Gregorio 1-21 and Audelia Betancourt; to his sisters, Olga Llanez, Oralia Ibarra, 1-22 Brenda Jimenez, and Anna Betancourt; to his brothers, Sammy Ramirez 1-23 Betancourt and Frankie Betancourt; to his nieces and nephews; and 1-24 to his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further 2-1 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-2 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of 2-3 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mike 2-4 Betancourt.
