                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Forney Independent School District indeed merits
 1-2     special legislative recognition for its longstanding tradition of
 1-3     excellence in education; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Forney ISD was created in 1899 and by 1950 had grown
 1-5     to encompass some 10 outlying rural school districts; today the
 1-6     district includes four separate campuses and provides for the
 1-7     education of approximately 2,500 students; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, For more than a century, Forney ISD has made
 1-9     invaluable contributions to Kaufman County, and its record of
1-10     success can be attributed to the substantial support of the
1-11     community and the continued dedication of its students, faculty,
1-12     staff, and administrators; and
1-13           WHEREAS, A testament to the district's outstanding ability to
1-14     provide its students with a superb education is its annual receipt
1-15     of praise from the Academic Excellence Indicator System; from 1994
1-16     to 1999, Forney ISD earned "recognized" status each year, and for
1-17     the 1999-2000 school year the district was deemed "exemplary,"
1-18     making it one of only five districts in the Dallas-Fort Worth
1-19     Metroplex to earn such a prestigious rating; and
1-20           WHEREAS, In addition, Forney ISD students excel in numerous
1-21     extracurricular activities; evidence of that can be found at Forney
1-22     High School, where almost one in 10 students competed at some
1-23     state-level event, with one in 35 winning a gold medal or
1-24     first-place award; and
 2-1           WHEREAS, The residents of Kaufman County continue to reap the
 2-2     benefits of the fine education offered by the Forney ISD, and it is
 2-3     truly a privilege to pay tribute to this noteworthy district and
 2-4     its many devoted educators, administrators, students, and staff;
 2-5     now, therefore, be it
 2-6           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-7     Legislature hereby commend all those associated with the Forney
 2-8     Independent School District for their dedication to the provision
 2-9     of an exceptional education; and, be it further
2-10           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-11     prepared for the Forney ISD as an expression of high regard by the
2-12     Texas House of Representatives.
