R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Forney High School football team won the UIL
 1-2     Class 3A regional championship and had a stellar 2000 season, and
 1-3     the Jackrabbits' impressive accomplishments are a source of great
 1-4     pride to their school and community; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Head Coach Mel Maxfield and the rest of his coaching
 1-6     staff adroitly guided Forney to an 11-5 overall record and an
 1-7     appearance in the UIL Class 3A Division II state championship
 1-8     football game; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, In addition, Forney outscored its six playoff
1-10     opponents by a combined score of 176-58 and recorded shutout
1-11     victories against Crandall and Gladewater high schools; moreover,
1-12     the Jackrabbits put up a courageous effort in the state
1-13     championship contest before narrowly falling to perennial power La
1-14     Grange High School; and
1-15           WHEREAS, Several players reached individual milestones this
1-16     season; Forney's David Ross and DaBryan Blanton earned selection to
1-17     the all-state first team and Pete Cuva was chosen to the all-state
1-18     honorable mention team; and
1-19           WHEREAS, The superb season would not have been possible
1-20     without the contributions of all the talented team members,
1-21     including Matt Adams, DaBryan Blanton, Bryson Brown, Clay Silver,
1-22     Jeff Beene, Jason Bryant, C. J. Tomlinson, Jason Laury, T. J.
1-23     Gilmer, Clint Crabtree, Drew Weiner, Ty Patterson, Bryan Samouris,
1-24     Charles Rickerson, Randy White, Adam Paschall, Michael Creecy, Ty

2-14           WHEREAS, The Jackrabbits' success this year is an apt
2-15     reflection of their hard work and dedication, and it is most
2-16     appropriate to pay tribute to them at this time; now, therefore, be
2-17     it
2-18           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-19     Legislature hereby congratulate the Forney High School football
2-20     team on winning the UIL Class 3A regional championship and on its
2-21     remarkable 2000 season and extend to its members, coaches, and
2-22     supporters sincere best wishes for continued good fortune; and, be
2-23     it further
2-24           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-25     prepared for the Forney High School football team as an expression
2-26     of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
