                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Dr. John Coble of Greenville has been selected as
 1-2     2001-2002 president of the Texas Optometric Association, and this
 1-3     significant accomplishment is indeed worthy of special legislative
 1-4     recognition; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, A University of Houston College of Optometry
 1-6     graduate, Dr. Coble served with distinction as a member of the U.S.
 1-7     Army and the Texas Army National Guard before embarking on a highly
 1-8     successful career as a therapeutic optometrist; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman has worked in private
1-10     practice in Greenville since 1990; a leader in his profession, he
1-11     has served as president of the Northeast Texas Optometic Society,
1-12     Texoma Optometry Society, and the Student Texas Optometric
1-13     Association Society; and
1-14           WHEREAS, In addition, he is currently chairman of the Texas
1-15     Optometry Association's mentorship program and hospital privilege
1-16     task force while also serving on its board of directors, externship
1-17     committee, legislative crisis team, legal and legislative
1-18     committee, and membership committee; moreover, Dr. Coble has given
1-19     lectures for optometric societies in communities throughout Texas
1-20     and has been the official optometry representative for our state
1-21     since 1997; and
1-22           WHEREAS, Throughout the years, he has generously donated his
1-23     time and considerable talents to the community and is actively
1-24     involved in such noteworthy organizations as United Way, Rotary
 2-1     Club, chamber of commerce, Boy Scouts of America, YMCA, and
 2-2     numerous others; with his invaluable efforts and many good works
 2-3     and deeds, Dr. Coble has had a positive impact on the lives of
 2-4     countless people, and his impressive record of service speaks
 2-5     volumes about his prodigious abilities and immense character; and
 2-6           WHEREAS, The hard work and dedication of Dr. Coble in behalf
 2-7     of his fellow Texans is truly commendable, and it is most
 2-8     appropriate to pay tribute to him at this time; now, therefore, be
 2-9     it
2-10           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-11     Legislature hereby congratulate John Coble on his appointment as
2-12     2001-2002 president of the Texas Optometric Association and extend
2-13     to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness;
2-14     and, be it further
2-15           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-16     prepared for Dr. Coble as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2-17     House of Representatives.
