R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Festivities are planned for the week of
 1-2     March 18-March 25, 2001, by the Reverend L. J. Kimble and the
 1-3     congregation of New Macedonia Baptist Church in Hitchcock to
 1-4     celebrate the opening of their new church building, and this
 1-5     auspicious event is indeed worthy of special recognition; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Organized in 1951, the church was capably guided by
 1-7     the Reverend M. J. Kimble during its first 39 years; the membership
 1-8     next welcomed the Reverend Graylin Andrus, and since July 1997, the
 1-9     Reverend L. J. Kimble has faithfully served the church as pastor;
1-10     and
1-11           WHEREAS, Worship was originally held in a structure donated
1-12     by the Reverend and Mrs. Leon Smith; in 1955, land was purchased on
1-13     Prino Street for a new edifice, which was built three years later,
1-14     was remodeled in 1965, and has served the members until the recent
1-15     completion of the new facility; and
1-16           WHEREAS, For half a century, New Macedonia Baptist Church
1-17     members have demonstrated a steadfast commitment to bettering their
1-18     community, and it is most appropriate that they be honored at this
1-19     time; now, therefore, be it
1-20           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-21     Legislature hereby congratulate the pastor and congregation of New
1-22     Macedonia Baptist Church on the dedication of their new building
1-23     and extend to them best wishes for continued success; and, be it
1-24     further
 2-1           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-2     prepared for New Macedonia Baptist Church as an expression of high
 2-3     regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
