R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, March 24, 2001, is indeed a noteworthy day, as it
 1-2     marks the Ninth Annual Scholarship Fashion Gala and Recognition
 1-3     Luncheon of the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary,
 1-4     Council and Court No. 72, of Our Mother of Mercy Church in Houston;
 1-5     and
 1-6           WHEREAS, This outstanding event provides a perfect
 1-7     opportunity to recognize this estimable nonprofit group, which has
 1-8     aided countless individuals through the years, particularly the
 1-9     economically disadvantaged, the sick, and the disabled, and has
1-10     succeeded admirably in its goals to encourage and support higher
1-11     education and to train and develop civic leaders; and
1-12           WHEREAS, The dedicated men and women of this philanthropic
1-13     association also raise and distribute funds for scholarships and
1-14     numerous charitable entities, such as the Sickle Cell Foundation,
1-15     the United Negro College Fund, and the Loving Arms Foundation; and
1-16           WHEREAS, The fashion gala and recognition luncheon is one of
1-17     the group's many exceptional events, and the proceeds from this
1-18     stellar occasion will be used to supplement the organization's
1-19     Educational and Charity Fund; and
1-20           WHEREAS, All the members of the Council and Court No. 72 of
1-21     the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary of Our Mother of
1-22     Mercy Church are to be commended for their devotion to helping
1-23     their fellow Texans, and it is a privilege to honor them as they
1-24     celebrate the Ninth Annual Scholarship Fashion Show and Recognition
 2-1     Luncheon; now, therefore, be it
 2-2           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-3     Legislature hereby commemorate the Ninth Annual Scholarship Fashion
 2-4     Show and Recognition Luncheon hosted by the Council and Court No.
 2-5     72 of the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary of Our
 2-6     Mother of Mercy Church and extend to all those associated with this
 2-7     fine group sincere best wishes for continued success.
