                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to
 1-2     congratulate Priscilla Van Dyke of Burkburnett on her receipt of
 1-3     the Youth Citizen of the Year Award; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, The daughter of Sue Van Dyke and a senior at
 1-5     Burkburnett High School, this talented young Texan received the
 1-6     Youth Citizen of the Year Award from the Burkburnett Chamber of
 1-7     Commerce for her exemplary work at school and in the community; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Ms. Van Dyke has been active with numerous school
 1-9     organizations, including the BHS Student Council, International
1-10     Club, and math and science teams; she has also served as class vice
1-11     president and vice president of the school's National Honor
1-12     Society; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Her dedication and hard work have earned Ms. Van
1-14     Dyke numerous honors; a finalist at the International Science and
1-15     Engineering Fair, she advanced to the UIL State Solo and Ensemble
1-16     Contest in voice and piano; and
1-17           WHEREAS, This outstanding young lady has contributed to the
1-18     betterment of her community by volunteering for Special Olympics,
1-19     and after graduation she plans to study biochemistry at the
1-20     University of California at Berkeley; and
1-21           WHEREAS, Ms. Van Dyke is an excellent student and valuable
1-22     citizen of Burkburnett, and it is truly a privilege to pay tribute
1-23     to her at this time; now, therefore, be it
1-24           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-1     Legislature hereby honor Priscilla Van Dyke for her dedication to
 2-2     her community and her notable scholastic achievements and extend to
 2-3     her sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and,
 2-4     be it further
 2-5           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-6     prepared for Ms. Van Dyke as an expression of high regard by the
 2-7     Texas House of Representatives.
