                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes great
 1-2     pleasure in honoring Michelle Galindo Cruz on her graduation from
 1-3     The University of Texas at Austin; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, The daughter of George and Sylvia Cruz of Baytown,
 1-5     Ms. Cruz needed only 2-1/2 years to earn her bachelor of science
 1-6     degree in communication studies; and
 1-7           WHEREAS, Ms. Cruz took time out from her studies to serve as
 1-8     a freshman interest group peer mentor for the Office of the Vice
 1-9     President of Student Affairs, was a member of the student
1-10     government, the women's novice rowing team, and the Association for
1-11     Women in Communications, and represented Texas in the National
1-12     Association of Latino Elected Officials/Shell Legislative
1-13     Internship Program; and
1-14           WHEREAS, This exemplary young woman participated in the
1-15     governmental process by devoting her time and energy as a
1-16     legislative aide in the offices of representatives Joe Deshotel and
1-17     Rene O. Oliveira, and she also held the position of assistant
1-18     sergeant-at-arms during the 76th Legislature; and
1-19           WHEREAS, Michelle Cruz has achieved great success in and out
1-20     of the classroom, and it is indeed appropriate that she receive
1-21     special legislative recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it
1-22           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-23     Legislature hereby congratulate Michelle Galindo Cruz on her
1-24     graduation from The University of Texas at Austin and extend to her
 2-1     sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it
 2-2     further
 2-3           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-4     prepared for Ms. Cruz as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 2-5     House of Representatives.
