                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The retirement of Bruce Wilson as sheriff of Pecos
 1-2     County brings to a close the distinguished career of a highly
 1-3     regarded gentleman; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Beginning in law enforcement in 1967 as a Coyanosa
 1-5     deputy, Sheriff Wilson worked his way through the ranks and was
 1-6     elected sheriff of Pecos County as a write-in candidate on
 1-7     September 16, 1984, a notable feat in itself, and ran unopposed
 1-8     until his retirement; he has served admirably in this  position for
 1-9     the past 16 years; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Keeping the residents of such a large geographic
1-11     area out of harm's way is an enormous responsibility, and Sheriff
1-12     Wilson's diligence helped make West Texas a safer and better place
1-13     for everyone; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Pecos County has reaped the benefits of Sheriff
1-15     Wilson's experience and dedication to law enforcement, and his
1-16     impressive record of service speaks volumes about the positive
1-17     impact he has had in the community; and   
1-18           WHEREAS, For more than 33 years, he has dutifully protected
1-19     and served  the people of Pecos County; his integrity, dignity, and
1-20     commitment have earned him a special place in the hearts of
1-21     countless individuals, and it is most appropriate to honor him as
1-22     he begins a new chapter in his life; now, therefore, be it
1-23           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-24     Legislature hereby commend Bruce Wilson for his faithful and
 2-1     outstanding service as sheriff of Pecos County and extend to him
 2-2     sincere best wishes for continued good fortune and happiness; and,
 2-3     be it further
 2-4           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-5     prepared for Sheriff Wilson as an expression of high regard by the
 2-6     Texas House of Representatives.
