By Chisum H.R. No. 366 77R7989 MMS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of E. E. "Pinky" Shultz of Pampa on 1-2 January 4, 2001, at the age of 87, brought a great sense of loss to 1-3 the family and innumerable friends of this beloved gentleman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born November 12, 1913, in Arnett, Oklahoma, 1-5 Mr. Shultz graduated from Arnett High School and attended college 1-6 in Altus, Oklahoma; he married his high school sweetheart, Loree 1-7 Miller, on June 20, 1936, and together they raised a loving and 1-8 close-knit family; and 1-9 WHEREAS, After working in the county clerk's office in Ellis 1-10 County, Oklahoma, for seven years, Mr. Shultz moved to Cactus, 1-11 Texas, where he was employed for three years in a war defense 1-12 plant; in 1946 he and his wife settled in Pampa and he joined the 1-13 staff of the Jones-Everett Machine Company, serving as office 1-14 manager and as secretary-treasurer until he retired in 1990; and 1-15 WHEREAS, This notable Texan devoted countless hours to the 1-16 residents of Pampa through his involvement in the First Christian 1-17 Church and the Lions Club, winning in return the whole-hearted 1-18 respect and affection of his fellow citizens; and 1-19 WHEREAS, At First Christian, Mr. Shultz served as chairman of 1-20 the board of trustees, chairman of the elders, member of the 1-21 building and the pulpit committees, and church treasurer; he also 1-22 served as president of the Christian Men's Fellowship, president 1-23 for 30 years of the Aquilla and Priscilla Sunday School Class, and 1-24 liaison between the church and the Boy Scouts; in recognition of 2-1 his long-standing support of the church and its ministry, he was 2-2 elected Elder Emeritus, one of only four individuals in the history 2-3 of the church to be so honored; and 2-4 WHEREAS, The Pampa Noon Lions Club also found in Mr. Shultz a 2-5 ready willingness to shoulder whatever tasks needed to be done; his 2-6 offices in this organization included tail twister, lion tamer, and 2-7 president; moreover, he served as District 2-T1 membership 2-8 chairman, deputy district governor, chairman of international club 2-9 relations, and international convention chairman; and 2-10 WHEREAS, Named Lion of the Year by his local club in 1985, 2-11 Mr. Shultz was also accorded life memberships by the High Plains 2-12 Eye Bank and the Texas League for Crippled Children; and 2-13 WHEREAS, Always centering his life on his cherished family, 2-14 Mr. Schultz gave unstintingly of his time and talents to the 2-15 community, and his spirit will surely long live on in the hearts of 2-16 all he so deeply touched; now, therefore, be it 2-17 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-18 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of E. E. "Pinky" Shultz 2-19 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his 2-20 wife, Loree Shultz; to his son and daughter and their spouses, Gary 2-21 and Gail Shultz and Joy and Billy Williams; to his grandchildren, 2-22 Ryan Shultz and his wife, Connie Shultz, Taylor Shultz, Lauren 2-23 Shultz, Shawn Williams, and Brandy Williams; and to his other 2-24 relatives and loved ones; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an 2-25 official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of his 2-26 family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns 2-27 this day, it do so in memory of E. E. "Pinky" Shultz.
