                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, For 92 years the 4-H Youth Development Program of
 1-2     the Texas Agricultural Extension Service has provided invaluable
 1-3     experience-based education to youth across the Lone Star State; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, This admirable program, which seeks to create a
 1-5     learning experience that is stimulating and satisfying to all
 1-6     aspects of a child's nature, also helps young Texans to acquire
 1-7     knowledge, develop life skills, and form attitudes that will enable
 1-8     them to become self-directed and productive members of society; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, With over one million participants ranging in age
1-10     from eight to 19, the 4-H program boasts a membership that resides
1-11     in urban, suburban, and rural communities, hails from diverse
1-12     ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, and is truly a representative
1-13     cross-section of the state; and
1-14           WHEREAS, The extraordinary success of the 4-H program owes
1-15     much to the service of its more than 55,000 volunteers, who have
1-16     given generously of their time, talents, energies, and resources to
1-17     benefit Texas youth; and
1-18           WHEREAS, Throughout its proud history, the 4-H program has
1-19     helped develop young Texans into role models by providing
1-20     activities that build character and instill strong values, and the
1-21     organization is indeed worthy of special legislative recognition at
1-22     this time; now, therefore, be it
1-23           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-24     Legislature hereby recognize February 27, 2001, as 4-H Day in Texas
 2-1     and encourage its observance in communities across the state.
