R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Don "Diego" Bables of Dallas is being recognized as 1-2 an Outstanding Texan at the Texas Legislative Black Caucus 1-3 Conference on March 14-16, 2001; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Mr. Bables attended the prestigious Arts Magnet High 1-5 School in Dallas, where his talent flourished and he received 1-6 numerous awards, including first place in the Kool Jazz Festival; 1-7 by the age of 15, he had become a noted musician on the local jazz 1-8 scene; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Incorporating a unique, sultry sound in his 1-10 saxophone playing, Mr. Bables boasts a diverse style that crosses 1-11 many genres; he has accompanied a host of noteworthy musicians, 1-12 performing with such greats as Gerald Albright, Kenny G, Najee, 1-13 Kirk Whalum, and B. B. King; and 1-14 WHEREAS, This world-renowned entertainer recently released a 1-15 new album, This Must be Heaven, which is expected to enjoy the same 1-16 success as his earlier project, Razz, which spent 26 weeks on 1-17 Billboard's contemporary charts with hits such as "It Never Rains 1-18 In Southern California" and "Lonely Talking"; and 1-19 WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan is a gifted musician and a great 1-20 source of pride for the Lone Star State, and it is a privilege to 1-21 commend him at this time; now, therefore, be it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-23 Legislature hereby honor Don "Diego" Bables for his exemplary 1-24 achievements and extend to him heartfelt congratulations on his 2-1 receipt of an Outstanding Texan Award from the Texas Legislative 2-2 Black Caucus; and, be it further 2-3 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-4 prepared for Mr. Bables as an expression of high regard by the 2-5 Texas House of Representatives.
