R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Dr. Bob Smith has worked tirelessly in behalf of his 1-2 fellow Texans as superintendent of the Montgomery Independent 1-3 School District, and the members of this chamber are proud to honor 1-4 him for his exemplary record of community service; and 1-5 WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman's impressive 32-year tenure 1-6 in education includes nearly a quarter-century as an administrator, 1-7 and 6 of the 17 years he has worked as a superintendent have been 1-8 with Montgomery ISD; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Dr. Smith was instrumental in promoting successful 1-10 bond elections in 1996 and 1999, and Montgomery ISD has clearly 1-11 benefited from his many good works; the district and four of its 1-12 campuses have attained "recognized" status, one campus is rated 1-13 "exemplary," and another serves as a mentor campus; and 1-14 WHEREAS, His commitment to the district's young people and 1-15 his diligence in securing positive results in all his endeavors 1-16 make him an invaluable advocate for the continued enhancement of 1-17 the educational system in Texas; in recognition of his hard work, 1-18 he was deservedly named Region VI Superintendent of the Year in 1-19 1998; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Contributing to the betterment of his community in 1-21 both professional and civic capacities, Dr. Smith is an active 1-22 Rotary Club member and Paul Harris Fellow who has given generously 1-23 of his time to lead a number of significant Rotary initiatives; and 1-24 WHEREAS, A skilled administrator and distinguished leader in 2-1 Montgomery County, Dr. Smith is most deserving of special 2-2 legislative recognition on the occasion of his visit to the State 2-3 Capitol; now, therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby honor Dr. Bob Smith for his exemplary community 2-6 leadership and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it 2-7 further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for Dr. Smith as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-10 House of Representatives.
