R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, Sanmi Akinmulero of Dallas has been chosen by the
1-2 Texas Legislative Black Caucus to receive an Outstanding Texan
1-3 Award for his significant contributions to the community; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Mr. Akinmulero will be presented with this coveted
1-5 accolade at an awards gala on March 16, 2001, where he will be
1-6 honored for his commitment to improving, developing, and enriching
1-7 the lives of his fellowman; and
1-8 WHEREAS, Chairman and CEO of GFS Capital Corp., this esteemed
1-9 gentleman has supported the fundraising efforts of such noteworthy
1-10 organizations as the North Dallas Baptist Church Youth Program, the
1-11 West Dallas Community Youth Center, and St. Phillips School in
1-12 South Dallas; in addition, he has been actively involved with the
1-13 Meals on Wheels program, the Dallas NAACP, and numerous initiatives
1-14 to benefit the homeless and disadvantaged of Texas; and
1-15 WHEREAS, He has utilized his natural leadership abilities to
1-16 benefit a host of worthwhile organizations, including the Oak Cliff
1-17 Chamber of Commerce, the South Dallas/Fair Park Trust Fund Board,
1-18 and the African Chamber of Commerce Dallas-Fort Worth, Inc.; he is
1-19 also the founder of both the Ace Business Development Group and New
1-20 Image Business Associates, Inc., for which he serves as chairman
1-21 and president, respectively; and
1-22 WHEREAS, For more than a decade, Mr. Akinmulero has hosted
1-23 several informational forums and lectures, providing an opportunity
1-24 for area businesspeople to join together and share their insights
2-1 and professional observations; among his many innovative endeavors
2-2 are a weekly small business luncheon, the Minority Opportunity
2-3 Success Training program, and Owl Night; and
2-4 WHEREAS, A 1980 graduate of the Federal Government Technical
2-5 College in Nigeria, Mr. Akinmulero is a man of integrity and vision
2-6 and his inspirational dedication to the betterment of his community
2-7 is most deserving of praise; now, therefore, be it
2-8 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-9 Legislature hereby commend Sanmi Akinmulero for his exemplary
2-10 efforts in behalf of the citizens of Texas and congratulate him on
2-11 his receipt of an Outstanding Texan Award from the Texas
2-12 Legislative Black Caucus; and, be it further
2-13 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-14 prepared for Mr. Akinmulero as an expression of high regard by the
2-15 Texas House of Representatives.
