                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo will be held March
 1-2     3 through 17, 2001, in Austin, and it is most appropriate to take
 1-3     this opportunity to recognize March 7, 2001, as Star of Texas Fair
 1-4     and Rodeo Day at the State Capitol; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Begun more than 60 years ago, the Star of Texas Fair
 1-6     and Rodeo is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the development
 1-7     and education of the youth of the Lone Star State; to that end, it
 1-8     conducts the annual fair and rodeo to generate funds to provide
 1-9     academic scholarships, educational programs, and career development
1-10     funding for students in Central Texas; and
1-11           WHEREAS, The Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo, which is the
1-12     largest youth education fund-raiser in Central Texas, offers
1-13     kindergartners through high school seniors in a 22-county region
1-14     the opportunity to take part in and enjoy numerous educational and
1-15     enlightening programs; moreover, the event raises a substantial
1-16     amount of money to benefit the region's youth, including amassing
1-17     more than $1 million in 2000; and
1-18           WHEREAS, The many attractions of the 15-day celebration
1-19     include the PRCA Rodeo, musical concerts, a carnival, a livestock
1-20     show, a youth fair, a parade, and Star of Texas Family Fun Runs;
1-21     patrons of the extravaganza are treated to a Cowboy Breakfast and
1-22     BBQ Cook-Off, and have the opportunity to shop with the fair's
1-23     vendors; and
1-24           WHEREAS, The organizers and volunteers of the Star of Texas
 2-1     Fair and Rodeo have shown an impressive commitment to ensuring the
 2-2     well-being and development of the youth of Texas, and it is indeed
 2-3     a privilege to commend these noteworthy individuals for providing
 2-4     Central Texas with such a worthwhile and exciting event; now,
 2-5     therefore, be it
 2-6           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-7     Legislature hereby recognize March 7, 2001, as Star of Texas Fair
 2-8     and Rodeo Day at the State Capitol and extend to all those
 2-9     associated with the event best wishes for an enjoyable day and a
2-10     successful 2001 fair and rodeo.
