R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, November 15, 2000, marked the end of a 23-year
1-2 tenure with Southwestern Bell for Rose A. Cantu, and this occasion
1-3 is indeed deserving of special recognition; and
1-4 WHEREAS, Ms. Cantu joined the San Antonio office as an
1-5 operator in 1977, and since that time her significant contributions
1-6 and strong work ethic have been truly commendable; and
1-7 WHEREAS, An integral part of the Southwestern Bell team, this
1-8 dedicated Texan used her myriad skills to quickly ascend the ranks
1-9 of the company; retired from a management position, she will long
1-10 be remembered as an exceptional leader and motivator; and
1-11 WHEREAS, In addition to having built a distinguished career,
1-12 this civic-minded individual is active throughout her community,
1-13 giving generously of her time and talents to a host of worthwhile
1-14 organizations; the Harlingen Chamber of Commerce Youth and Adult
1-15 Leadership committees, the United Way Budget and Admissions
1-16 Committee, and the Juvenile School Court Conference are among the
1-17 groups that have benefited from her extensive experience and
1-18 compassionate spirit; and
1-19 WHEREAS, An alumna of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor,
1-20 Ms. Cantu has earned the respect of colleagues and friends for her
1-21 dedication and many notable accomplishments at Southwestern Bell,
1-22 and it is a privilege to join them in honoring her; now, therefore,
1-23 be it
1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-1 Legislature hereby pay tribute to Rose A. Cantu on the occasion of
2-2 her retirement from Southwestern Bell and in recognition of her 23
2-3 years of outstanding service; and, be it further
2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-5 prepared for Ms. Cantu as an expression of high regard and best
2-6 wishes by the Texas House of Representatives.
