R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The passing of Jerome Kay Felps of Burnet  on June
 1-2     4, 2000, at the age of 75, has deeply saddened his family and many
 1-3     friends in the community; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Mr. Felps was born on October 13, 1924, in Marble
 1-5     Falls and moved to Burnet in 1937; after graduating from Burnet
 1-6     High School, he attended The University of Texas at Austin and
 1-7     interrupted his studies to serve his country with the onset of
 1-8     World War II; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, While serving in the Army Air Corps, Mr. Felps met
1-10     his future wife, Margery R. Bell; they were married on March 25,
1-11     1945, and enjoyed a happy marriage of 55 years' duration that was
1-12     blessed with four children; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Mr. Felps shared his insight and expertise for 30
1-14     years on the board of directors of the Burnet County Farm Bureau;
1-15     from 1969 until 1975 he led the organization as president, after
1-16     which he served as secretary for 21 years; and
1-17           WHEREAS, In 1975, the Burnet Chamber of Commerce recognized
1-18     this admirable Texan's agricultural expertise when they presented
1-19     him with the Outstanding Farmer and Rancher Award; and
1-20           WHEREAS, A valued member of the First Methodist Church in
1-21     Burnet, Mr. Felps was a life member of The University of Texas
1-22     Ex-Students' Association and the National Rifle Association as
1-23     well; and
1-24           WHEREAS, Jerome Kay Felps will not soon be forgotten, for the
 2-1     memory of this fine man lives on in the hearts of the many people
 2-2     whose lives he touched; now, therefore, be it
 2-3           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-4     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jerome Kay Felps and
 2-5     extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:  to his wife,
 2-6     Margery Ruth Felps; to his children, Suzanne Fiala, Lynda Lester,
 2-7     William Lee Felps, and Robert Jerome Felps; to his eight
 2-8     grandchildren and six  great-grandchildren; and to his other
 2-9     relatives and friends; and, be it further
2-10           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-11     prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
2-12     Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jerome Kay
2-13     Felps.
