R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Lake Highlands High School seniors Catherine Ringer
 1-2     and Taylor Keep of Dallas have been selected as Youth of the Month
 1-3     for September 2000 by the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands, and
 1-4     these exemplary students are truly deserving of special recognition
 1-5     for their many accomplishments; and
 1-6           WHEREAS, Each month, the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands
 1-7     recognizes two seniors from Lake Highlands High School for
 1-8     superlative academic achievement and noteworthy extracurricular
 1-9     involvement; these deserving individuals receive U.S. Savings Bonds
1-10     and are made eligible for college scholarships to help defray the
1-11     costs of continuing their education; and
1-12           WHEREAS, Ranked third in her senior class, Ms. Ringer belongs
1-13     to the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society,
1-14     and the LHHS Highlandette Drill Team; an active participant in the
1-15     Fellowship of Christian Athletes and a member of the Church of the
1-16     Incarnation, she has played a vital role in the Rip Parker "Feed
1-17     the Homeless" program at Park Cities Baptist Church; and
1-18           WHEREAS, Mr. Keep, ranked number one in his senior class, is
1-19     a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist, and he serves as
1-20     president of Mu Alpha Theta and is active with the National Honor
1-21     Society and Student Council; a member of the LHHS Wildcat football
1-22     and baseball teams, he is active in the Fellowship of Christian
1-23     Athletes, has received the Dale Hanson Scholar Athlete of the Week
1-24     Award, and participates in the Rip Parker "Feed the Homeless"
 2-1     program; and
 2-2           WHEREAS, The Youth of the Month Award helps to affirm the
 2-3     positive and productive civic, academic, and extracurricular
 2-4     participation of the young people of Lake Highlands High School,
 2-5     and it is indeed a privilege to recognize the merits of this award
 2-6     and to pay tribute to the deserving students who are selected to
 2-7     receive it; now, therefore, be it
 2-8           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-9     Legislature hereby congratulate Catherine Ringer and Taylor Keep on
2-10     being named Youth of the Month for September 2000 by the Exchange
2-11     Club of Lake Highlands and extend to them best wishes for success
2-12     and happiness in all their future endeavors; and, be it further
2-13           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-14     prepared for Ms. Ringer and Mr. Keep as an expression of high
2-15     regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
