R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, On November 30, 2000, the family and friends of
 1-2     Morris Clemmons of Woodville were greatly saddened by the passing
 1-3     of this esteemed gentleman at the age of 79; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Born on June 10, 1921, in Beaumont, this native
 1-5     Texan graduated from Lamar University and served as a second
 1-6     lieutenant in the Army Air Corps during World War II; on July 3,
 1-7     1943, he married the former Marilyn Ramsey and seven years later
 1-8     they moved to Woodville; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, A successful businessman in the real estate
1-10     appraisal and insurance industry for more than 45 years,
1-11     Mr. Clemmons was instrumental in the development of the Chesswood
1-12     and Dearwood residential areas; he shared his insight and expertise
1-13     with his colleagues as president of the Deep East Texas Board of
1-14     Realtors and Tyler County Board of Realtors, and was deservedly
1-15     honored for his professional achievements when he was named Realtor
1-16     of the Year; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Mr. Clemmons was a congregant at Woodville United
1-18     Methodist Church and a dedicated civic leader who played a major
1-19     role in numerous community projects, cofounding the Allan Shivers
1-20     Library and Museum, Tyler County Airport, and the Dogwood Country
1-21     Club; he served as president of the Woodville Rotary Club and as a
1-22     valued member of the Tyler County Hospital Board and the Woodville
1-23     School Board, and worked diligently in behalf of the Democratic
1-24     Party at the local, state, and national levels in his role as Tyler
 2-1     County Democratic Party Chairman for nearly 50 years; and
 2-2           WHEREAS, His community involvement did not go unnoticed, as
 2-3     he was given the Paul Harris Fellow award by the Rotary Club, was
 2-4     named Man of the Year by the Woodville Chamber of Commerce, and was
 2-5     honored with the James E. Wheat Award by the Tyler County Dogwood
 2-6     Festival; and
 2-7           WHEREAS, Morris Clemmons left an indelible impression on the
 2-8     lives of the many people he so deeply touched, and in whose hearts
 2-9     his spirit remains; now, therefore, be it
2-10           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-11     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Morris Clemmons and
2-12     extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family:  to his wife,
2-13     Marilyn Clemmons; to his daughter, Frances Kuehn, and her husband,
2-14     Jack; to his grandchildren, Kathy, Bill, and Beth Kuehn; to his
2-15     brothers, Martin Clemmons and Ted Clemmons; and to his other
2-16     relatives and many friends; and, be it further
2-17           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-18     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
2-19     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-20     Morris Clemmons.
