R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, In the wake of the successful year experienced by
 1-2     the Castleberry High School Marching Band of River Oaks, a special
 1-3     commendation is truly warranted; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, This outstanding 149-member band performed under the
 1-5     skillful leadership of Phillip Aikman, director of bands; Dave
 1-6     Daniel, assistant director; Dan Francis, assistant director; and
 1-7     Reggie Cook, percussion instructor; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, On October 17, 2000, the band members earned a First
 1-9     Division rating at the UIL Region 5 marching contest; they received
1-10     another first in Class 3A at the UIL Area B marching contest, and
1-11     on November 6, 2000, they were awarded third place in the UIL State
1-12     marching contest in the 3A Division; and
1-13           WHEREAS, These committed and hardworking young Texans are
1-14     most deserving of praise for their accomplishments, and they are a
1-15     great source of pride for the students, staff, and faculty of
1-16     Castleberry High School as well as the residents of River Oaks;
1-17     now, therefore, be it
1-18           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-19     Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the Castleberry High
1-20     School Marching Band and their instructors for a sterling year and
1-21     extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success.
