R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, Members of the Texas House of Representatives are
1-2 proud to honor Twila Rose of Houston for her achievements,
1-3 including her recent receipt of an Outstanding Texan Award from the
1-4 Texas Legislative Black Caucus; and
1-5 WHEREAS, The daughter of Devoria Rose and Austin Miles, this
1-6 noteworthy young woman attended Nat Q. Henderson Elementary School,
1-7 where she was active in the Hornet Choir, the Charmettes, and the
1-8 honor society; during her time at Lamar Fleming Middle School, she
1-9 was a member of the gymnastics team, was a Pacesetter, and was the
1-10 first chair viola player in the school's orchestra for two years;
1-11 and
1-12 WHEREAS, Currently a senior at Phillis Wheatley High School,
1-13 Ms. Rose ranks 10th in her class, is a member of the honor roll,
1-14 and has been listed in Who's Who Among American High School
1-15 Students; she is captain of the Dancing Dolls drill team, a Psi
1-16 Gamma Stepper, a cadet in Houston's JROTC, and a drama club member;
1-17 a dedicated scholar, Ms. Rose plans to attend Texas Southern
1-18 University after graduation and to major in communications; and
1-19 WHEREAS, Consistently demonstrating a will to succeed,
1-20 Ms. Rose is an exemplary young Texan who will no doubt be an
1-21 outstanding community leader in years to come, and it is most
1-22 fitting to recognize her at this time; now, therefore, be it
1-23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-24 Legislature hereby congratulate Twila Rose on her receipt of an
2-1 Outstanding Texan Award from the Texas Legislative Black Caucus;
2-2 and, be it further
2-3 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-4 prepared for Ms. Rose as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2-5 House of Representatives.
