R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Edward C. Loche of Houston has been chosen by the
 1-2     Texas Legislative Black Caucus to receive an Outstanding Texan
 1-3     Award for his significant contributions in the field of business;
 1-4     and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Mr. Loche will be presented with this notable
 1-6     accolade at an awards ceremony on March 15, 2001, where he will be
 1-7     honored for his commitment to improving, developing, and enriching
 1-8     the lives of his fellow citizens; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Formerly of Louisiana, Mr. Loche graduated from
1-10     Southern University and Commonwealth College of Mortuary Science;
1-11     he has been employed as the business manager of Ross Mortuary,
1-12     Inc., in Houston, in a career that has spanned more than two
1-13     decades; and
1-14           WHEREAS, Combining business acumen with a strong commitment
1-15     to his community, he has made impressive contributions to the Fifth
1-16     Ward Community Redevelopment Corporation, Our Mother of Mercy
1-17     Catholic Church Credit Union and finance committee, and the H. P.
1-18     Carter Career Center, and he is on the advisory board of the Lyons
1-19     at Lockwood branch of Chase Bank; and
1-20           WHEREAS, A member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, he
1-21     is active with numerous other worthwhile organizations, including
1-22     the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity, the Knights of Peter Claver, the
1-23     Knights of Columbus, and United Men of Our Mother of Mercy; and
1-24           WHEREAS, Edward Loche is a man of integrity and vision, and
 2-1     his tireless dedication to the betterment of his community is most
 2-2     deserving of praise; now, therefore, be it
 2-3           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-4     Legislature hereby commend Edward C. Loche for his exemplary
 2-5     efforts in behalf of the citizens of Texas and congratulate him on
 2-6     his receipt of an Outstanding Texan Award from the Texas
 2-7     Legislative Black Caucus; and, be it further
 2-8           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-9     prepared for Mr. Loche as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2-10     House of Representatives.
