R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Gilbert Jimenez of San Antonio is a courageous Texan
 1-2     whose heroic actions on July 13, 2000, rescued a young boy from
 1-3     drowning; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, An engineering technician with the San Antonio River
 1-5     Authority (SARA), Mr. Jimenez was enjoying his lunch break outdoors
 1-6     when he witnessed six-year-old Timothy Morales fall into the San
 1-7     Antonio River behind the SARA office; acting quickly, he sprinted
 1-8     across the back lawn toward the river in order to render aid to the
 1-9     young boy; and
1-10           WHEREAS, When his efforts to reach Timothy from the bank
1-11     proved futile, Mr. Jimenez leapt into the water and pulled the boy
1-12     to the safety of the river's shore; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Gilbert Jimenez has distinguished himself as a true
1-14     Texas hero, demonstrating a truly unselfish act of heroism; and
1-15           WHEREAS, Mr. Jimenez's prompt intervention and quick thinking
1-16     saved Timothy Morales from serious injury and possible death, and
1-17     his bravery indeed merits highest praise; now, therefore, be it
1-18           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-19     Legislature hereby honor Gilbert Jimenez for his exceptional
1-20     courage and composure in the face of danger; and, be it further
1-21           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
1-22     prepared for Mr. Jimenez as an expression of high regard by the
1-23     Texas House of Representatives.
