R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, It is always a pleasure to welcome international 1-2 visitors to the Lone Star State, and it is a particular privilege 1-3 to recognize the group of students here today who are participating 1-4 in the Share! High School Exchange Program; and 1-5 WHEREAS, This exemplary program, which was established in 1-6 1974, offers students from Europe, Asia, and Latin America the 1-7 opportunity to study for either one semester or one year in the 1-8 United States while living with a host family; students are 1-9 selected to take part in this program on the basis of their English 1-10 and academic ability, maturity and flexibility, and interest in 1-11 promoting cross-cultural understanding; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Six delegates of this notable group are visiting the 1-13 Capital City today, and they include Anastasia Antonova of Russia, 1-14 Joao Paulo Araujo of Brazil, Jonas Fandrey of Germany, Svetlana 1-15 Mikita of Russia, David Schlichtenberger of Germany, and Rafael 1-16 Silva of Brazil; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Endeavoring to offer the future leaders of the world 1-18 an opportunity to experience a broad range of cultures, traditions, 1-19 and lifestyles is a most commendable undertaking, and the many 1-20 individuals who help to make this project a success are indeed 1-21 deserving of high praise; now, therefore, be it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-23 Legislature hereby welcome the young men and women of the Share! 1-24 High School Exchange Program and extend to them sincere best wishes 2-1 for an educational and memorable visit; and, be it further 2-2 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-3 prepared for the members of the organization as an expression of 2-4 high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
