R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, This year marks the end of a distinguished tenure
 1-2     for Bill Hawkins of Dallas, and it is most appropriate to honor his
 1-3     many contributions to the labor movement and to his community on
 1-4     the occasion of his retirement from Iron Workers Local #263; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, A member of the Iron Workers Union for more than
 1-6     three decades, Mr. Hawkins has held an administrative position with
 1-7     the union in Dallas/Fort Worth for the past 15 years and served as
 1-8     an executive board member and business agent for the organization;
 1-9     Iron Workers Local #481 in Dallas also benefited from his natural
1-10     leadership ability and vast experience, as he was the group's
1-11     sergeant-at-arms, business agent, and financial
1-12     secretary/treasurer, as well as a member of the executive and exam
1-13     boards; and
1-14           WHEREAS, In addition to his noteworthy professional
1-15     activities, Mr. Hawkins has given generously of his time and
1-16     talents to a host of worthy civic initiatives, most especially the
1-17     Boy Scouts of America, to which he devoted 18 years of service;
1-18     Mesquite Social Services, A Wish with Wings, Inc., the United Way
1-19     of Metropolitan Dallas, and several AFL-CIO community service
1-20     groups are also among the many organizations that have benefited
1-21     from his energy and commitment; and
1-22           WHEREAS, The wisdom and guidance of Bill Hawkins will be
1-23     greatly missed by all those fortunate to have worked with him, but
1-24     he leaves a legacy of hard work and dedication for those who have
 2-1     chosen to follow in his footsteps, and it is a privilege to join
 2-2     his family, colleagues, and many friends in honoring him as he
 2-3     embarks on a well-deserved retirement; now, therefore, be it
 2-4           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-5     Legislature hereby commend Bill Hawkins for his contributions to
 2-6     the Iron Workers Union in Texas and to the citizens of the Lone
 2-7     Star State and extend to him sincere best wishes in all of his
 2-8     future endeavors; and, be it further
 2-9           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-10     prepared for Mr. Hawkins as an expression of high regard by the
2-11     Texas House of Representatives.
