R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Caring for Children Foundation of Texas, Inc., 1-2 has made significant contributions to the health of the citizens of 1-3 Texas by providing needed immunizations to our state's youth 1-4 through its Care Van Program; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Responding to a need to improve the health of 1-6 medically uninsured children in Texas, many of whom are at risk of 1-7 contracting vaccine-preventable diseases, the Caring for Children 1-8 Foundation of Texas, Inc., with the support of its lead sponsor, 1-9 Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, launched the Care Van Program 1-10 in 1997 and has since expanded its services throughout the Lone 1-11 Star State; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Age-appropriate immunizations during childhood can 1-13 save as much as $10 in long-term health costs for every $1 1-14 invested, and the Care Van Program has provided more than 40,000 1-15 Texas children with access to immunizations and health screenings; 1-16 and 1-17 WHEREAS, The Care Van Program works with the Texas Department 1-18 of Health, local public health departments and providers, community 1-19 volunteers, health professionals, and hospitals to best serve a 1-20 community's immunization needs; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Immunizations are among the easiest, fastest, and 1-22 most cost-effective of all medical services; the Care Van Program 1-23 has improved the quality of health for children lacking insurance 1-24 across the Lone Star State, and it is indeed appropriate that those 2-1 associated with this worthy initiative be honored; now, therefore, 2-2 be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby commend the Caring for Children Foundation of 2-5 Texas, Inc., and the Care Van Program for providing needed medical 2-6 assistance to numerous Texans and extend to them sincere best 2-7 wishes for continued success; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for the Caring for Children Foundation of Texas, Inc., as 2-10 an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
