R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to 1-2 recognize the Wichita Falls Board of Commerce and Industry on the 1-3 occasion of Wichita Falls Day at the State Capitol on March 22, 1-4 2001; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The board is now in its 100th year, having been 1-6 created on November 27, 1901, and for a century it has been the 1-7 organization at the forefront of economic development in Wichita 1-8 County; and 1-9 WHEREAS, During 2000 and 2001, nine economic development 1-10 projects have been announced in Wichita County, including ABB, 1-11 Budget, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Saint Gobain, Covercraft, Cingular, 1-12 Cryovac, Carrier, and Pratt & Whitney; these significant efforts 1-13 have resulted in the creation of 1,470 new jobs and an annual 1-14 economic impact of $68.1 million; and 1-15 WHEREAS, The Wichita Falls Board of Commerce and Industry is 1-16 represented here today by its officers, Leo Lane, chair; Tommy 1-17 McCulloch and Kay Yeager, vice chairs; and Ken Telg, treasurer; it 1-18 is indeed a privilege to recognize these individuals and to 1-19 congratulate them and all the other members of this fine 1-20 organization on their notable achievements; now, therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-22 Legislature hereby commend all those associated with the Wichita 1-23 Falls Board of Commerce and Industry for their outstanding 1-24 contributions to the well being of their community and welcome them 2-1 as they celebrate Wichita Falls Day at the State Capitol.
