R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Those who work in and around the Capitol Complex are 1-2 a close-knit community, and the untimely death of Dickie Ingram on 1-3 December 22, 1999, at the age of 49, was keenly felt by all who 1-4 came to know and respect this remarkable Texan; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Mr. Ingram was born in Wellington on September 20, 1-6 1950, to John and June Ingram, the eldest of three sons; he 1-7 attended Texas Tech University on a football scholarship, and 1-8 earned his law degree from Baylor University Law School in 1974; 1-9 and 1-10 WHEREAS, Subsequently admitted to the State Bar of Texas, 1-11 Mr. Ingram was a brilliant attorney and strategist; the general 1-12 counsel for the Texas Municipal League for four years, he served as 1-13 executive director of the Gulf Coast Conservation Association 1-14 before teaming with Jack Gullahorn for several years in private 1-15 practice and joining Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld in 1986; 1-16 Mr. Ingram cofounded the Polan Ingram Advocacy Group in 1992, and 1-17 throughout his career he was a familiar and welcome presence at the 1-18 State Capitol, where he could often be seen deep in conversation 1-19 sporting his trademark cigar; and 1-20 WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Ingram was an avid sportsman and a 1-21 leading conservationist; a member of the Texas Cutter Horse 1-22 Association and the Texas Cattle Raisers Association, he also loved 1-23 to fish, and his efforts to protect and preserve the natural 1-24 resources of this state brought him to the forefront of numerous 2-1 legislative issues and earned him the "Perry Bass Award" from the 2-2 Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in September 2000; and 2-3 WHEREAS, He married the former Maya Garcia on November 30, 2-4 1990, and greatly enjoyed spending time with his wife and children, 2-5 Andrea, Cristina, Brittany, Paige, and Barrett at the family's 2-6 ranch in Lytton Springs; and 2-7 WHEREAS, Though his time on this earth was far too short, 2-8 Dickie Ingram lived life to the fullest, and he will be remembered 2-9 with affection and admiration by those who treasured his friendship 2-10 and counsel; now, therefore, be it 2-11 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-12 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dickie Ingram and 2-13 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, 2-14 Maya Ingram; to his children, Andrea, Cristina, Brittany, Paige, 2-15 and Barrett Ingram; to his parents, John and June Ingram; to his 2-16 brothers, Tom and Harry Ingram; and to his other relatives and many 2-17 friends; and, be it further 2-18 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-19 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of 2-20 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dickie 2-21 Ingram.
