                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Ola J. Reagan of Dallas has enriched the lives of
 1-2     countless individuals during her five decades with East Gate
 1-3     Baptist Church, and her many years of dedicated service are indeed
 1-4     deserving of legislative recognition; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, A graduate of Dallas Baptist University and Prairie
 1-6     View A&M University, Mrs. Reagan earned her doctorate of religion
 1-7     degree from Rialto Community Bible College; she is the beloved wife
 1-8     of East Gate Baptist Church's Reverend H. D. Reagan, with whom she
 1-9     shares five cherished children and 11 grandchildren; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Blessed with a host of diverse talents, this
1-11     esteemed Texan has experienced a long and fulfilling professional
1-12     career, including positions as a teacher in the Dallas public
1-13     school system and D. Edwin Johnson Bible Institute; a member of the
1-14     Gospel Music Workshop of America, she is a gifted musician and
1-15     music writer, earning a Grammy nomination in 1997 for her musical
1-16     arrangement and acceptance into the Texas Music Composers Forum;
1-17     and
1-18           WHEREAS, She is actively involved in East Gate Baptist
1-19     Church, where she is the Christian education director, minister of
1-20     music, and program coordinator for the family literacy and drug
1-21     abuse support ministries; in addition, she gives generously of her
1-22     time and talents to such worthwhile community initiatives as
1-23     Goodwill Industries, the American Red Cross, and the advisory board
1-24     of the Literacy Volunteers of America for the City of Dallas; and
 2-1           WHEREAS, This admirable church and civic leader has dedicated
 2-2     her life toward the betterment of her community, receiving the
 2-3     Woman of the Year Award in 1989, the Minister's Wife Award from the
 2-4     Dallas Metropolitan Club of the National Association of
 2-5     Business & Professional Women's Club, Inc., and a nomination for
 2-6     the National Teacher of the Year Award; she has acted with
 2-7     selflessness and integrity, and it is a privilege to join the
 2-8     family, friends, and peers of Mrs. Reagan in honoring her at this
 2-9     time; now, therefore, be it
2-10           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-11     Legislature hereby commend Ola J. Reagan for her many years of
2-12     significant contributions to the citizens of Texas and extend to
2-13     her sincere best wishes for continued success in all her future
2-14     endeavors; and, be it further
2-15           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-16     prepared  for Mrs. Reagan as an expression of high regard by the
2-17     Texas House of Representatives.
