R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Marvin Ray Stevens of Star Harbor on 1-2 February 14, 2001, at the age of 79, has brought a great loss to 1-3 the family and many friends of this fine man; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native Texan, he was born on August 18, 1921, in 1-5 Greenville, to Walter Leslie and Ida Laura Kennedy Stevens; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Mr. Stevens and his wife, Sybil, were married on 1-7 November 11, 1958, in Houston; together they enjoyed a fulfilling 1-8 relationship and took great pride in their extended family, which 1-9 spanned four generations; and 1-10 WHEREAS, After an outstanding 38-year career with ArmCo Steel 1-11 Corporation in Houston, Mr. Stevens retired in 1979, and moved with 1-12 his wife to Star Harbor; through the years he was an active member 1-13 of the First United Methodist Church of Malakoff, Lions Club 1-14 International of Houston, and the Malakoff Rotary Club, which he 1-15 served as president; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to share the friendship of 1-17 Mr. Stevens will long miss his presence, and he will surely be 1-18 remembered with great affection and admiration for many years to 1-19 come; now, therefore, be it 1-20 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-21 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Marvin Ray Stevens 1-22 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his 1-23 wife, Sybil Stevens; to his sons, Tony L. Stevens and W. Allen 1-24 Jackson; to his twin sister, Lou Henderson Allen; to his 2-1 grandchildren, Diana Stevens Kerr, Laura Stevens Smith, Sarah 2-2 Stevens, Christie Ham, Dr. Amiee Wright, Laura Humphries, Betsy 2-3 Wright, Cynthia Cook, Sandra Jackson, Dianna Bolling, and Ashleigh 2-4 Jackson; to his seven great-grandchildren; and to his other 2-5 relatives and friends; and, be it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-7 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-8 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-9 Marvin Ray Stevens.
