R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, March 14, 2001, marks the 35th birthday of a 1-2 familiar figure in the legislative community, James Kevin Cooper, 1-3 and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to honor him for 1-4 his notable service in behalf of the citizens of this state; and 1-5 WHEREAS, A Fort Worth native, Mr. Cooper graduated from 1-6 Stephen F. Austin State University in 1990 and began working for 1-7 the Texas House of Representatives the following year as a reading 1-8 clerk during the 72nd Legislative Session; and 1-9 WHEREAS, At session's end, he accepted a position with 1-10 Speaker Gib Lewis as assistant to the director of administrative 1-11 services and special projects and from 1992 until 1994 he served 1-12 with distinction as chief of staff for State Representative Keith 1-13 Oakley; and 1-14 WHEREAS, After a productive five-year tenure as legislative 1-15 liaison for the Texas Department of Public Safety, Mr. Cooper 1-16 joined the staff of U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison in 1999 as 1-17 her regional director for Central Texas, and in that capacity he is 1-18 a valuable resource to the members of this body and the citizens of 1-19 this region; and 1-20 WHEREAS, His achievements are a source of great pride to his 1-21 wife, Paige Ullrich Cooper, with whom he shares his commitment to 1-22 governmental service as well as an adorable daughter, Catherine 1-23 Lauren "Cate" Cooper; and 1-24 WHEREAS, Mr. Cooper's significant contributions to this state 2-1 are truly impressive, and it is a pleasure to join with his friends 2-2 and family in wishing him well on this auspicious occasion; now, 2-3 therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby congratulate James Kevin Cooper on his 35th 2-6 birthday and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued 2-7 success and happiness; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for Mr. Cooper as an expression of high regard by the 2-10 Texas House of Representatives.
