R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, A golden wedding anniversary is truly cause for a
 1-2     celebration, and on March 25, 2001, Flora Burton and Alfonzo
 1-3     Burton, Sr., of Houston will mark this milestone in their life
 1-4     together in the company of their family and friends; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Married on March 22, 1951, the Burtons have been
 1-6     residents of the Houston Heights community throughout their
 1-7     marriage; the couple enjoy a close and loving relationship that has
 1-8     set an inspiring example for their seven children and four beloved
 1-9     grandchildren; and
1-10           WHEREAS, Mr. Burton served his country with distinction as a
1-11     member of the United States Armed Forces during the Korean War;
1-12     Mrs. Burton shared her time and energy as a volunteer at Holden
1-13     Elementary School, Hamilton Middle School, and Waltrip High School
1-14     while her children were students there; and
1-15           WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, Mr. and
1-16     Mrs. Burton are congregants of the Second Baptist Church and active
1-17     participants in the Houston Heights Association; and
1-18           WHEREAS, This devoted couple have shared many happy times and
1-19     cherished family memories during their five decades together; their
1-20     commitment to each other is a source of great pride to their loved
1-21     ones, and it is indeed appropriate that they be honored at this
1-22     time; now, therefore, be it
1-23           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-24     Legislature hereby congratulate Flora Burton and Alfonzo Burton,
 2-1     Sr., on the joyous occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and
 2-2     extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success and
 2-3     happiness; and, be it further
 2-4           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-5     prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Burton as an expression of high regard by
 2-6     the Texas House of Representatives.
