R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Casey Kelley is a lifetime resident of Abilene in 1-2 Taylor County, and was born in Abilene on December 10, 1980, to his 1-3 parents Steve and Amanda Kelley, lifetime public servants, and has 1-4 two brothers, Chad Kelley and Clay Kelley; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Mr. Kelley has spent much time in volunteer efforts 1-6 to improve his community and been recognized by his peers and 1-7 elders for such acts of generosity; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Attending Abilene High School and graduating as a 1-9 member of the class of 1999 under the Texas Scholars Plan, he was 1-10 named senior class favorite and homecoming king, and spent four 1-11 years as a member of the student council; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Deciding to further his education he has chosen to 1-13 attend Abilene Christian University and major in the field of 1-14 communication, and is involved with several students groups on 1-15 campus including the Agriculture Club and Essence of Ebony, an 1-16 organization to promote multicultural enrichment, and also serves 1-17 as a firefighter for the Potosi Volunteer Fire Department; and 1-18 WHEREAS, He has a great love for music, songwriting and 1-19 playing the guitar and has formed the group Casey & Casey with his 1-20 college roommate, Casey Marusak; and 1-21 WHEREAS, With future aspirations to hold political office he 1-22 is taking time to work at the House of Representatives during his 1-23 Spring Break this semester in order to gain knowledge and insight 2-1 of the legislative process; now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the Texas House of Representatives hereby 2-3 recognizes Casey Kelley for his significant achievements and his 2-4 volunteer and community building work during his twenty years of 2-5 life and extend to him sincere best wishes for good fortune and 2-6 happiness in his future endeavors; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-8 prepared for Mr. Kelley as an expression of high regard by the 2-9 Texas House of Representatives.
