R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Winnsboro High School Lady Raiders basketball 1-2 team has again achieved the pinnacle of success by winning the UIL 1-3 Class 3A state championship, marking the third consecutive year the 1-4 school has taken home the coveted crown; and 1-5 WHEREAS, In the state title game at the Frank Erwin Center in 1-6 Austin, the Lady Raiders refused to be denied, earning a 1-7 hard-fought 51-48 win over Abilene Wylie to complete the season 1-8 with a record of 37 wins against only 4 defeats; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Winnsboro's 2000-2001 title was a result of total 1-10 dedication to the team concept by players Katie Cook, K'Lee Futral, 1-11 Crystal Herrera, Lindsey Fleming, Jamie Herlocker, Stephanie 1-12 Duffield, Brandy Tinney, Sarah Mitchell, Haley King, and state 1-13 tournament most valuable player Sara Hinkley; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Head coach Buddy Hawkins, with the support of 1-15 assistant coaches Kirk Capo, Leslie Anglin, and Tom Campbell, has 1-16 maintained Winnsboro's elite status in the face of challenging 1-17 competition, providing exceptional leadership and guidance to build 1-18 the Lady Raiders into a hardwood dynasty; and 1-19 WHEREAS, These exceptional young women are a source of 1-20 continuing pride to the students and staff at Winnsboro High 1-21 School, as well as their many supporters in the community, and it 1-22 is appropriate that they be honored at this time; now, therefore, 1-23 be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby congratulate the Winnsboro High School Lady 2-2 Raiders on winning their school's third consecutive UIL state 2-3 basketball title and extend to them sincere best wishes for 2-4 continued success; and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-6 prepared for the Lady Raiders as an expression of high regard by 2-7 the Texas House of Representatives.
