R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Christine Mae Blubaugh of
1-2 Grand Prairie on March 25, 2000, at the age of 16, brought a
1-3 profound sense of loss to the family and many friends of this
1-4 beloved young woman; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Born April 13, 1983, in Irving, the second of five
1-6 children, Ms. Blubaugh was a student at South Grand Prairie High
1-7 School; from childhood on she enjoyed many interests, among them
1-8 Girl Scouts, ballet, theater arts, basketball, and the violin, an
1-9 instrument she had studied for several years; and
1-10 WHEREAS, In high school, Ms. Blubaugh earned a place on the
1-11 varsity tennis team, where she played doubles with her identical
1-12 twin sister; the twins were known affectionately as "Double
1-13 Trouble" on the tennis court and as "the McTwins" at McDonald's, an
1-14 after-school job they fitted in along with their studies and
1-15 extracurricular activities; and
1-16 WHEREAS, Following in her mother's footsteps, Ms. Blubaugh
1-17 found fulfillment in service to others; she regularly volunteered
1-18 for Grand Prairie United Charities, as well as for other
1-19 organizations in the community; and
1-20 WHEREAS, Ms. Blubaugh was blessed with a loving and
1-21 close-knit family, and within the warmth of that circle she
1-22 nurtured dreams of becoming a veterinarian and of one day raising a
1-23 family of her own; and
1-24 WHEREAS, A kind, generous, and talented young woman who was
2-1 ready to take on the challenges of the world, Ms. Blubaugh brought
2-2 enormous joy to her family and to countless others, and the spirit
2-3 of this cherished daughter, sister, and friend will long live on in
2-4 the hearts of all who treasured her; in her memory, her family
2-5 would like for House Bill 2114 to be known as Christine's Law; now,
2-6 therefore, be it
2-7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-8 Legislature hereby pay special tribute to the life of Christine Mae
2-9 Blubaugh and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family:
2-10 to her parents, Debra and David Blubaugh; to her sisters, Dawn
2-11 Marie Blubaugh and Anita Joyce and Julie Michele Hill; to her
2-12 brother, David Blubaugh, Jr.; and to her other relatives and loved
2-13 ones; and, be it further
2-14 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-15 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
2-16 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Christine
2-17 Mae Blubaugh.
