R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The retirement of Charles Curry Pierce, Jr., is a
 1-2     time to reflect on the accomplishments of his 42 years of service
 1-3     in the securities industry; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, Mr. Pierce, a native Texan, was born on October 14,
 1-5     1934, to Charles Curry and Melverne Rawson Pierce; he was educated
 1-6     in the Highland Park ISD and earned his B.B.A. at The University of
 1-7     Texas at Austin; and
 1-8           WHEREAS, Mr. Pierce began his career at Rauscher Pierce &
 1-9     Company, a small regional investment firm, and has served the firm
1-10     through its transformation from Rauscher Pierce & Company to
1-11     Rauscher Pierce Refsnes to Dain Rauscher Inc. and finally to RBC
1-12     Dain Rauscher Wessels; and
1-13           WHEREAS, A loyal employee, Mr. Pierce has grown with the firm
1-14     over 50 years, starting in the mailroom and finishing as vice
1-15     chairman of the 12th largest investment firm in the United States;
1-16     and
1-17           WHEREAS, While a syndicate manager, Mr. Pierce helped the
1-18     firm manage or comanage thousands of securities offerings, notably
1-19     those of Tyson Foods, Mary Kay, Cullum Companies, Frozen Foods
1-20     Express, Atlas Van Lines, The Western Companies, Central Louisiana
1-21     Electric Company, Southland Corporation, and Tandy Corporation; and
1-22           WHEREAS, Mr. Pierce has served the securities industry in
1-23     many capacities, including serving as cochair of the South Central
1-24     District of the Securities Industry Association and serving on the
 2-1     association's Firms and Industry Analysis Committee, Syndicate
 2-2     Committee, and Minority Capital Committee; and
 2-3           WHEREAS, Mr. Pierce also served as president of the Texas
 2-4     Stock and Bond Dealers Association and was elected to membership in
 2-5     Kappa Beta Phi; and
 2-6           WHEREAS, Mr. Pierce serves the city of Dallas as a civic
 2-7     leader through the Easter Seal Foundation, the United Way, the
 2-8     Texas Historical Society, the Salesmanship Club of Dallas, and the
 2-9     Highland Park United Methodist Church; and
2-10           WHEREAS, A man of great devotion, Mr. Pierce is a faithful
2-11     husband to Jane Harrell Pierce, devoted father to Carol Pierce
2-12     Goglia and Catherine Harrell Pierce, honest mentor to firm
2-13     employees, and loyal friend to many; and
2-14           WHEREAS, Mr. Pierce represented the firm, now known as RBC
2-15     Dain Rauscher Wessels, with the highest integrity and in an
2-16     exemplary manner throughout the industry at large, to all fellow
2-17     employees, to the community of Dallas, and to the State of Texas;
2-18     now, therefore, be it
2-19           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-20     Legislature hereby commend Charles C. Pierce, Jr., for his many
2-21     contributions to his firm, his family, and the city of Dallas and
2-22     extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and
2-23     happiness; and, be it further
2-24           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-25     prepared for Mr. Pierce as an expression of high regard by the
2-26     Texas House of Representatives.
