R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Green Williams has been chosen by the Texas 1-2 Legislative Black Caucus to receive a 2001 Outstanding Texan Award 1-3 for his significant and ongoing contributions in the area of public 1-4 safety; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The accolade recognizes people from all walks of 1-6 life who are role models for their fellow citizens and future 1-7 generations; with his hard work and vision, Mr. Williams has proven 1-8 himself most deserving of this prestigious honor; and 1-9 WHEREAS, This fine gentleman was in the workforce for more 1-10 than 30 years and enjoyed a distinguished professional career that 1-11 included working for the United States Air Force, Matthews 1-12 Engineering, and Cooper Air-Craft; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Since retiring, Mr. Williams has devoted himself to 1-14 volunteering on a full-time basis with a group of concerned 1-15 citizens who patrol the North Park/Love Field neighborhood to 1-16 ensure the safety of local residents and their homes; he has 1-17 demonstrated great leadership abilities by using his knowledge, 1-18 wisdom, and experience to formulate and spearhead group priorities 1-19 and missions; and 1-20 WHEREAS, In addition, he donates his time and considerable 1-21 talents to the North Park/Love Field Civic League, the Neighborhood 1-22 Environment, and the K. P. Polk Advisory Council; Mr. Williams is 1-23 also a valued and highly respected member of the St. Luke 1-24 Missionary Baptist Church; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Mr. Williams's exemplary record of service speaks 2-2 volumes about his commitment to keeping people in his community out 2-3 of harm's way; he has had a positive impact on many people in the 2-4 Lone Star State, and it is truly a privilege to pay tribute to this 2-5 good Samaritan at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-7 Legislature hereby congratulate Green Williams on his receipt of a 2-8 2001 Outstanding Texan Award from the Texas Legislative Black 2-9 Caucus and extend to him warmest best wishes for happiness and good 2-10 fortune in his future endeavors; and, be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-12 prepared for Mr. Williams as an expression of high regard by the 2-13 Texas House of Representatives.
