R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Dianne Gibson of Dallas has been selected as a 1-2 recipient of an Outstanding Texan Award in the area of community 1-3 service by the Texas Legislative Black Caucus; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Outstanding Texans are honored for the positive 1-5 impact they make in their communities, and Ms. Gibson's compassion 1-6 and leadership have truly enhanced the lives of many individuals in 1-7 the Dallas area; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Known as "Ms. Community" for her generous 1-9 contributions of time and energy, Ms. Gibson is active with a 1-10 number of local civic boards, committees, and commissions; 1-11 moreover, she serves as a public service announcer for several area 1-12 radio stations and is the local advance person for the Reverend 1-13 Jesse L. Jackson, Jr.; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Ms. Gibson has been involved with the Dallas County 1-15 Community Action Committee (DCCAC) and its annual Thanksgiving 1-16 dinner and Christmas gift and toy program for several years; during 1-17 the 2000 holiday season alone, the group provided meals for 3,000 1-18 homeless families as well as toys and gifts for 150 families and 1-19 210 senior citizens; for her deep commitment and generosity of 1-20 spirit, Ms. Gibson was named Employee of the Year by the DCCAC; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Dianne Gibson has had a profound effect on the lives 1-22 of countless residents of the Lone Star State, and it is a great 1-23 pleasure to recognize her at this time; now, therefore, be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby commend Dianne Gibson on being named the 2-2 recipient of an Outstanding Texan Award by the Texas Legislative 2-3 Black Caucus in the area of community service and extend to her 2-4 best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-6 prepared for Ms. Gibson as an expression of high regard by the 2-7 Texas House of Representatives.
