                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Halice Furtado of Dallas has been chosen by the
 1-2     Texas Legislative Black Caucus to receive an Outstanding Texan
 1-3     Award for her significant contributions in the field of education;
 1-4     and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Ms. Furtado's distinguished career as an educator
 1-6     began at Bishop College, where she served as an administrative
 1-7     assistant and later became an instructor in special education; she
 1-8     went on to join the staff of the Dallas Independent School
 1-9     District, earning the respect and admiration of students, parents,
1-10     and colleagues for her work as a teacher and as a principal; and
1-11           WHEREAS, In the course of her noteworthy tenure, this
1-12     dedicated woman has received a host of well-deserved accolades,
1-13     having been named Teacher of the Year, Outstanding Principal for
1-14     Dallas Public Schools Area 2, and recipient of the Dallas Public
1-15     School's Academic Excellence Award; furthermore, her campus has
1-16     been honored with "recognized" status for its achievements by the
1-17     Texas Education Agency; and
1-18           WHEREAS, Consistently demonstrating the dedication,
1-19     leadership, and vision essential for success in her profession,
1-20     this esteemed individual is indeed worthy of special praise at this
1-21     time; now, therefore, be it
1-22           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-23     Legislature hereby congratulate Halice Furtado on her receipt of an
1-24     Outstanding Texan Award in the area of education from the Texas
 2-1     Legislative Black Caucus; and, be it further
 2-2           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-3     prepared for Ms. Furtado as an expression of high regard by the
 2-4     Texas House of Representatives.
