R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The State of Texas is committed to making health 1-2 insurance available to children through the TexCare Partnership; 1-3 and 1-4 WHEREAS, More than 250,000 children were enrolled in Medicaid 1-5 and the Children's Health Insurance Program of Texas in the first 1-6 10 months of the TexCare Partnership since outreach began in April 1-7 2000; and 1-8 WHEREAS, The success of this outreach effort would not have 1-9 been possible without unique public and private collaborative 1-10 efforts; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The TexCare Partnership Urban County Challenge 1-12 Program, as created and instituted by the United Ways of Texas, 1-13 local United Ways across the state, TexCare Partnership 1-14 community-based organizations, and the Conference of Urban 1-15 Counties, represents one of the most innovative public and private 1-16 partnership efforts to ensure families' access to children's health 1-17 insurance; and 1-18 WHEREAS, April 3, 2001, marks the first anniversary of the 1-19 TexCare Partnership and the Children's Health Insurance Program of 1-20 Texas, and it is fitting to honor all those who have contributed to 1-21 the program's success in the past year; now, therefore, be it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 1-23 Legislature hereby express appreciation to the United Ways of Texas 1-24 statewide organization and local United Ways members, the 2-1 Conference of Urban Counties, and the TexCare Partnership 2-2 community-based organizations for their creativity and commitment 2-3 in bringing together the best of the private and public sectors to 2-4 bring health insurance to hundreds of thousands of Texas children.
