                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to
 1-2     welcome to the State Capitol the four seventh graders from Harry H.
 1-3     Rogers Middle School in San Antonio who claimed top honors in the
 1-4     "Legislator for a Day" essay contest; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, These talented young Texans earned the opportunity
 1-6     to see their state government in action with their exceptional
 1-7     performances in this annual essay contest, which had the theme
 1-8     "What Does it Mean to Live in a Democracy?"; winners include
 1-9     Sabrina Espitia, who garnered first place, David Kalinoski, who
1-10     finished second, and Juan Martinez and Yanely Vendrell, who tied
1-11     for third; and
1-12           WHEREAS, While spending the day of March 27, 2001, in Austin,
1-13     these four dynamic students will serve as honorary sergeants for
1-14     the Texas House of Representatives and have the pleasure of
1-15     witnessing the legislative process firsthand, an experience that
1-16     will no doubt prove both exciting and enlightening; and
1-17           WHEREAS, Sabrina Espitia, David Kalinoski, Juan Martinez, and
1-18     Yanely Vendrell have proven themselves to be gifted and highly
1-19     motivated students, and it is most appropriate that we welcome
1-20     these future leaders of the Lone Star State at this time; now,
1-21     therefore, be it
1-22           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
1-23     Legislature hereby congratulate Sabrina Espitia, David Kalinoski,
1-24     Juan Martinez, and Yanely Vendrell on winning the "Legislator for a
 2-1     Day" essay contest and extend to them sincere best wishes for a
 2-2     memorable and informative visit to the State Capitol; and, be it
 2-3     further
 2-4           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-5     prepared for these stellar students as an expression of high regard
 2-6     by the Texas House of Representatives.
