No. 620 77R10896 GMW-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Honorable Rudy Villarreal, mayor of Alamo, was 1-2 recently singled out for his dedicated public service by the Alamo 1-3 Chamber of Commerce, which bestowed on him the impressive 1-4 distinction of Alamo citizen of the year; and 1-5 WHEREAS, An Alamo native, this esteemed Texan has served his 1-6 fellow residents as mayor and as a city councilman since April 1-7 1983, and his significant efforts have greatly benefited his 1-8 beloved hometown; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Mayor Villarreal's substantial community involvement 1-10 also has included being active with the Metropolitan Planning 1-11 Organization, the Texas Municipal League Region 12 nominating 1-12 committee, the Rio Grande Valley Conference of Mayors, and the 1-13 Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs Area Funding 1-14 Review Board; and 1-15 WHEREAS, He has served as secretary of the Hidalgo County 1-16 Urban Program, as a volunteer fireman, and on the Alamo Housing 1-17 Authority and Planning & Zoning Commission, and he has worked with 1-18 Alamo Crime Watch and the Alamo Chamber of Commerce; currently, he 1-19 donates his time and expertise to the Texas Municipal League 1-20 Statewide General City Advisory Committee Resolution Committee, the 1-21 Association of Hispanic Municipal Officials, the Texas Border 1-22 Infrastructure Coalition, and the Knights of Columbus; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Mayor Villarreal has proven himself to be an 1-24 outstanding ambassador for the city of Alamo, the Rio Grande 2-1 Valley, and the Lone Star State, and it is indeed a privilege to 2-2 pay tribute to him on the occasion of his recent accolade; now, 2-3 therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable Rudy Villarreal on 2-6 being named Alamo citizen of the year by the Alamo Chamber of 2-7 Commerce; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for Mayor Villarreal as an expression of high regard by 2-10 the Texas House of Representatives.
