R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The River Oaks Lady Lions Club is celebrating its
1-2 40th anniversary on April 7, 2001, and this presents an opportune
1-3 occasion to honor this fine association for its many outstanding
1-4 accomplishments; and
1-5 WHEREAS, An auxiliary of the River Oaks Lions Club, the Lady
1-6 Lions Club was originally formed to encourage fellowship among the
1-7 wives of Lions Club members, to further the goals of the Lions
1-8 Club, and provide volunteer assistance for social services; and
1-9 WHEREAS, Over the past four decades, the Lady Lions have made
1-10 significant contributions to the community, especially through
1-11 fund-raising efforts, and have been great supporters of the
1-12 Castleberry ISD, providing scholarships to students; this
1-13 outstanding organization also gives food and clothing to needy
1-14 families and participates in community activities such as the
1-15 annual Easter Egg Hunt; and
1-16 WHEREAS, Led by President Mearl Ellis and charter member Opal
1-17 Hinkle, the Lady Lions Club includes members Caron Brown, Carol
1-18 Byrom, JoAnn Butler, Mary Collins, Mary Earwood, Marjorie Gaddis,
1-19 Patsy Griffin, Peggy Holland, Christine McKown, Flo McKown, Lucille
1-20 Neal, Mary Pitner, Neva Timm, Sue Vaughn, Georgia Walker, Char
1-21 White, and Dorothy Wright; and
1-22 WHEREAS, The good works performed by these members today are
1-23 a continuation of a 40-year tradition that has benefited the area
1-24 in many immeasurable ways; now, therefore, be it
2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-2 Legislature hereby commend the River Oaks Lady Lions Club on its
2-3 40th anniversary and extend to its members very best wishes for
2-4 continued success; and, be it further
2-5 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-6 prepared for the members of the River Oaks Lady Lions Club as an
2-7 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
