R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to pay
 1-2     tribute to Robert Machos, Sr., for his outstanding service to the
 1-3     citizens of Fort Worth; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, A native of the city, Bob Machos embraced a strong
 1-5     moral code and work ethic early in life that laid the foundation
 1-6     for his personal and professional success; this industrious Texan
 1-7     started working at the age of six during the Great Depression,
 1-8     tending a garden and selling his vegetables and peaches on a garden
 1-9     route, and he also made money by collecting used items and
1-10     reselling them; he was employed with the Fort Worth Press at the
1-11     age of 14, managing five paper routes and earning a trip to
1-12     Galveston for his efforts in obtaining new subscriptions; and
1-13           WHEREAS, Following service in the U.S. Army Air Force,
1-14     Mr. Machos returned to Fort Worth, married his high school
1-15     sweetheart, Alice, and began a printing business that has grown and
1-16     prospered and will soon celebrate its 50th anniversary; not only
1-17     has he inspired three of his sons to become part of the business,
1-18     but he has also been a mentor to a number of other people who
1-19     wanted to learn about printing; and
1-20           WHEREAS, In his commitment to his community and area youth,
1-21     Mr. Machos was deeply influenced by his association with the
1-22     Kiwanis Club of North Fort Worth and the Fort Worth Boys' Club; his
1-23     mentors included leaders of the two organizations and he attended
1-24     his first Kiwanis meeting as an 11-year-old guest; and
 2-1           WHEREAS, Mr. Machos gives generously of his time and
 2-2     resources; he is a charter member and trustee of the
 2-3     Northwest/River Oaks Kiwanis Club, a member of the River Oaks Area
 2-4     Historical Society and the Knights of Columbus, and a member and
 2-5     past president of the River Oaks/Sansom Park Chamber of Commerce;
 2-6     and
 2-7           WHEREAS, He is a past president of the St. Paul's Men's Club,
 2-8     Sierra Club, Northwest Chamber of Commerce, and the Castleberry
 2-9     Athletic Booster Club, a former board member of the River Oaks YMCA
2-10     Boys Club and St. Teresa Home, and he served on the 1999-2000
2-11     Castleberry Independent School District budget committee; and
2-12           WHEREAS, Bob Machos continues to be a role model for the many
2-13     individuals who know and admire him, and it is truly a privilege to
2-14     join his family and friends in honoring him at this time; now,
2-15     therefore, be it
2-16           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
2-17     Legislature hereby commend Robert "Bob" Machos, Sr., for his many
2-18     accomplishments and outstanding contributions to his fellow
2-19     citizens; and, be it further
2-20           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-21     prepared for Mr. Machos as an expression of high regard by the
2-22     Texas House of Representatives.
