R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, The Honorable Samuel W. Hudson III has deservedly
 1-2     been named the recipient of an Outstanding Texan Award in the area
 1-3     of public service from the Texas Legislative Black Caucus; and
 1-4           WHEREAS, A graduate of the Thurgood Marshall School of Law,
 1-5     he is a distinguished former member of the Texas House of
 1-6     Representatives who began his legislative service during the 63rd
 1-7     Legislative Session and, over the course of a quarter century,
 1-8     authored more than 700 bills; and
 1-9           WHEREAS, Representative Hudson contributed to the passage of
1-10     a variety of important legislative initiatives during his
1-11     remarkable tenure with the house, addressing such significant
1-12     issues as day care, welfare reform and tax relief for senior
1-13     citizens, equality in education, salary and benefit increases for
1-14     teachers, family leave, and collective bargaining for farmworkers;
1-15     and
1-16           WHEREAS, In recognition of his myriad accomplishments, he was
1-17     named Legislator of the Year by the Arlington Park community and
1-18     was also selected as Man of the Year by CURE; today he continues to
1-19     serve the community as a practicing attorney in Dallas; and
1-20           WHEREAS, Throughout his service as a legislator, this
1-21     exemplary public servant consistently devoted his efforts to
1-22     creating a brighter future for his fellow citizens, and it is most
1-23     appropriate that he be recognized for his myriad contributions to
1-24     this state; now, therefore, be it
 2-1           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-2     Legislature hereby congratulate the Honorable Samuel W. Hudson III
 2-3     on his receipt of an Outstanding Texan Award in the area of public
 2-4     service from the Texas Legislative Black Caucus and extend to him
 2-5     sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 2-7     prepared for Mr. Hudson as an expression of high regard by the
 2-8     Texas House of Representatives.
