                                 R E S O L U T I O N
 1-1           WHEREAS, Marjorie E. Ford of Dallas is being accorded a
 1-2     well-deserved honor with her receipt of an Outstanding Texan Award
 1-3     in the area of entertainment/media from the Texas Legislative Black
 1-4     Caucus; and
 1-5           WHEREAS, Employed by WFAA-TV in Dallas, Ms. Ford is program
 1-6     producer and contributing reporter for Metro, a weekly, half-hour
 1-7     news magazine show; having served as producer and reporter for CBS,
 1-8     FOX, and PBS and as a media consultant for national and
 1-9     international organizations, this esteemed woman has touched the
1-10     lives of countless people and empowered many with her moving
1-11     stories that speak to the human condition; and
1-12           WHEREAS,  This talented journalist has garnered numerous
1-13     accolades throughout her career, including the MAAT Award and the
1-14     Best Public Affairs Award for television news in network and top 15
1-15     markets from the National Association of Black Journalists and the
1-16     GRIOT Award from the Dallas-Fort Worth Association of Black
1-17     Communicators; furthermore, she is the recipient of the KATIE Award
1-18     from the Press Club of Dallas, the Profiles in Progress Award from
1-19     the board of sponsors of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month,
1-20     and the Texas Media Award presented by the American Cancer Society,
1-21     as well as several nominations for Emmy Awards; and
1-22           WHEREAS, Equally committed to community service, Ms. Ford
1-23     volunteers as a reading tutor at a Dallas elementary school; she
1-24     also mentors college broadcasting students and helps young
 2-1     businesswomen through her work with The Executive Christian Women's
 2-2     Mentoring program; and
 2-3           WHEREAS, Ms. Ford's excellence in the field of broadcast
 2-4     journalism and devotion to the betterment of the community truly
 2-5     make her an invaluable asset to the Lone Star State; now,
 2-6     therefore, be it
 2-7           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 77th Texas
 2-8     Legislature hereby congratulate Marjorie Ford on her receipt of an
 2-9     Outstanding Texan Award in the area of entertainment/media from the
2-10     Texas Legislative Black Caucus and extend to her best wishes for
2-11     continued success and happiness; and, be it further
2-12           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-13     prepared for Ms. Ford as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2-14     House of Representatives.
